Forthcoming cybersecurity Horizon 2020 calls

As we told you in our previous post, October is the cybersecurity month in the European Union, according to this matter, we will explain you some Horizon 2020 calls that will be open soon, so you can get ahead on work and submit for any of the suggested topics that will be available from 14 March 2019 to 22 August 2019 17:00:00 (Brussels time). Contact us if you want to apply for these calls, we can be your administrative partner, and we can help you by seeking partners for your H2020 proposal and managing your application.

TOPIC: Digital Security and privacy for citizens and Small and Medium Enterprises and Micro Enterprises

Types of action: IA Innovation action

This topic aims to protect freedom, security and privacy by ensuring personal data protection of the citizens in Europe and avoiding personal data breach that may facilitate abuse by third parties. There is a need for increased citizens’ capacity to modulate the level and accuracy of the monitoring tools involved in their digital activities and configure their own security, privacy and personal data protection settings and controls across these services.

SMEs and MEs (Micro Enterprises) are more vulnerable to cyber-attacks and an easy target because the can only allocate limited technical and human resources. However, they have a significant economic role in the EU, so the research to innovation should support them in a complex and fast-evolving field.

Sub-topic 1: Protecting citizens’ security, privacy and personal data

This sub-topic has an expected funding amount between EUR 4 and 5 million per project and is expected to lead to development up to Technology Readiness level (TRL) 7.

Innovative solutions to personal data protection, develop new applications and technologies in order to help citizens to better monitor and audit their security, privacy and personal data protection. Proposals should include new solutions to improve the privacy and personal data protection risks, allowing users to manage their privacy level at any moment and their right to erasure, and removing and reporting potential harmful content and abusive interactions.

Sub-topic 2: Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Micro Enterprises (SMEs&MEs): defenders of security, privacy and personal data protection

This sub-topic has an expected funding amount between EUR 3 and 4 million per project and is expected to lead to development up to Technology Readiness level (TRL) 7.

The goal is to develop user-friendly and cost-effective solutions that allow SMEs and MEs to manage, forecast and dynamically monitor their security, privacy and personal data protection and building on-line collaboration between them and CERTs/CSIRTs, enabling them to report any incident.

 

TOPIC: Digital security, privacy, data protection and accountability in critical sectors

Proposals under this topic has an expected funding amount about EUR 5 million per project and is expected to lead to development up to Technology Readiness level (TRL) 7.

Sub-topic 1: Digital security, privacy and personal data protection in multimodal transport

Types of action: IA Innovation action.

Proposals under this sub-topic must include at least two of the following items:

      • Secure access management for citizens to all types of vehicles
      • Assurance and protection against specific cyber-attacks in the multimodal transport domain, addressing interconnected threats and propagated vulnerabilities
      • Standardization to allow the quick adoption of cybersecurity best practices in the domain

 

Sub-topic 2: Digital security, privacy and personal data protection in healthcare ecosystem

Type of Action: Research and Innovation action.

Proposals under this sub-topic must include at least two of the following items:

      • Develop dynamic vulnerability data basis that will become the basis for building healthcare cybersecurity incident management systems.
      • Deliver dynamic, evidence-based, sophisticated security, privacy and personal data protection risk assessment frameworks and tools.
      • Provide collaborative privacy-aware tools enabling healthcare stakeholders to access and share information, advise and provide best/good practices about incident handling.
