You may know the European H2020 grants but, do you know about H2020 loans?
InnovFin Energy Demo Projects (EDP) facility is a risk finance instrument part of the Horizon 2020 programme and provided by the European Investment Bank Group (EIB and EIF) to support the EU’s Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan via commercial-scale demonstration projects that faces the energy challenge in the fields of renewable energy, energy storage, smart grids, carbon capture utilisation and use, and manufacturing processes or services of innovative technologies.
The goal is to accelerate ready-for-market innovation in clean energy technologies offereing the following solutions:
- Loan guarantees
- Loans to enterprises
- Equity-type financing
Funding:
- Loan size: EUR 7.5 million – EUR 75 million
- Tenor: up to fifteen years
- EIB financing is limited to 50% of the total eligible costs of the project.
If you want to apply, your project must contribute to the energy transition in the fields explained before and be at the pre-commercial or early commercialisation stages, demonstrating its commercial viability or enhancing its competitiveness.
The technologies shall be innovative, related to a specific technology, process, product or service, combining or applying existing technologies.
In order to become bankable, the project must generate sufficient revenues and have the potential to be replicated elsewhere.
